Army has confronted a provincial leader of the LTTE while fleeing in a Elf canter lorry along the Mankulam- Olumadu road on Monday evening

The fire by the military forced the vehicle to skid off the road and fall into a muddy marshy patch on the roadside. Today morning, troops have reached the location and were trying to move out the LTTE vehicle from the roadside since it has submerged in the mud, the military said.

Meanwhile, latest reports from the Welioya front have now confirmed that a senior LTTE member sustained injuries in the attack on the double cab on Sunday.

Forward troops fired their small arms on the passing bullet-proof double cab of the LTTE piercing an unprotected patch of its windscreen and killing the cadre at the wheel on the spot.
