Sri Lanka\'s 2008 budget will be presented to parliament on November 09-05-2008
The 2008 budget will be presented to parliament on November 7th.
Finance Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said next budget would be a people friendly and development oriented one, which has been linked to the government’s three-year development programme.
The Ministry hopes to accept public opinions accordingly. The proposals from the local entrepreneurs and industrialists will specially be considered.
Minister added that next budget would pay special attention on uplifting the economy of low-income groups and accelerating the development in remote areas as mentioned in the Mahinda Chinthana.

An LTTE terrorist was reported killed by SL Army snipers deployed ahead of enemy defences in general area Alanakulama, Mannar yesterday(May 16), security sources said.
In addition an Army soldier was also reported wounded due to an AP mine explosion in general area Thrikethishwaran. Police reveal that the motorcycle of the suicide bomber involved in yesterday’s (May 16th) bomb explosion near the Colombo Hilton Hotel belongs to a associate of Pillayan named ‘Jana’.

Mt.Lavinia Magistrate Harsha Setunge yesterday issued an order preventing the erection of a Vesak pandal on Dehiwela Station Road on an application made by Dehiwala Police.
