6 LTTE terrorists killed, 5 injured in Wanni and Northern clashes 07-05-2008
Six LTTE terrorists were reported killed and 5 injured in sporadic clashes ensued between troops and LTTE ahead of Wanni and Northern battle fronts, yesterday (May 6).
According to reports received, 4 soldiers were also injured during the confrontations on Tuesday.
In the Jaffna front, a soldier has received injuries and rushed to the military base hospital at Palaly, following an AP mine explosion in general area Muhamalai, at 10.25a.m. Meanwhile, in the Vavuniya front 2 LTTE terrorists were reported killed and another 2 wounded, when troops clashed with a terrorist movement in general area Palamoddai, at 11.10a.m.
At the Welioya theater of battle, 4 terrorists were confirmed killed and similar numbers injured when troops ambushed an LTTE tractor transferring combatants, in general area North of Janakapura, at 2.45p.m. Similarly, another terrorist was reported wounded in advances made by troops at enemy defences in the same area. In addition, a soldier has also received wounds during confrontation with LTTE in general area Janakapura, while 3 others were reported wounded separately due to AP mine explosions in the same area.
Also, during search operations conducted in general areas Janakapura and Kiribbanwewa troops have removed 130 AP mines and 7 IEDs laid by LTTE, security sources said.
