2 security personnel injured in LTTE claymore mine blast- Kebithigollewa 03-05-2008
A Civil Security person and a Police Special Task Force (STF) officer was reportedly injured when LTTE terrorists triggered off a by road claymore mine this morning (May 3) at Pulliyankulama in Kebithigollewa.
The security personnel were riding on a motor bike along the Vavuniya- Kebithigollewa road when the blast occurred at around 8a.m. The injured were immediately rushed to the general hospital at Kebithigollewa.
Search operations are underway in the area, security sources said.
Separately, LTTE exploded a claymore mine near the 2nd mile post at Bogasdeniya junction, along the Pulmoddai road at Padaviya, this morning at 8. According to security sources, a high power extension line has been damaged due to the blast and no fatalities caused to civilians or security personnel.

An LTTE air craft was detected by the air defence system yesterday evening over the LTTE built Iranamadu runway, military sources said.
A senior Air Force official told media that the air defence system had detected the LTTE aircraft soon after, it was airborne. “However it immediately disappeared from the radar system, as it went down,” the official said.

Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan was sworn-in as the Chief Minister for the Eastern Province before President Mahinda Rajapaksa this evening.
