Sri Lankan air strikes on LTTE targets
27-03-2008

Sri Lankan air force today carried out two air strikes on identified LTTE targets at Tamil Tiger stronghold of Kilinochchi today. Air Force spokesman Andrew Wijesooriya told our Colombo Correspondent that the first aerial bombing was on an LTTE training camp at east of Iranamadu. The second air strike was on a Sea-Tiger Command Post located at 'Devils point' at Valaipadu, along north-western coast of Mullaithivu. 'This LTTE position had Radar installed', the air force spokesman added.

Quoting defence intelligence, military sources said that the LTTE had been using the location at 'Devils Point' to coordinate boat operations and smuggling activities across the Gulf of Mannar.

Meanwhile ball has been set rolling for elections to the Eastern Provincial Councils with nominations beginning today.
