Provincial police chiefs participated in the discussion. The special attention was paid on various issues such as the dearth of police personnel, renovation of police stations and the construction of police residential quarters and new police station. New police stations will be built replacing the police station in Tangalle and Ambalantota. It was also decided to set up a new police station in the Karapitiya area. A special security programme is to be implemented in the sacred premises of Katharagama. Bomb kills 11 civilians Fri, 09-05-2008 18:00:00 Defense sources confirmed that LTTE exploded a bomb inside the "New City Cafe" in Ampara town around 5.45 p.m today. Military spokesperson Brigadier Udaya Nanyakkara confirmed 11 death and 29 persons wounded. According to reports the bomb was a parcel bomb, which was kept in the café in Ampara town near the main bus stand.
