Construction of the Sampur coal power plant with a capacity of thousand megawatts will commence in June this year. First stage of this project is to add 500 megawatts to the national electricity grid by 2012. NTGC Construction Company of India has undertaken the construction of Sampur power plant. Bomb kills 11 civilians Fri, 09-05-2008 18:00:00 Defense sources confirmed that LTTE exploded a bomb inside the "New City Cafe" in Ampara town around 5.45 p.m today. Military spokesperson Brigadier Udaya Nanyakkara confirmed 11 death and 29 persons wounded.
