Areas identified for PakLanka mutual trade, investment 20-11-2008
Pakistani business community can benefit from the opportunity to promote trade and investment between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the fields of agriculture, pharmaceutical, establishing warehouses, supply chain system, fisheries and sea water culture techniques besides textiles.
Consul General of Sri Lanka, V.S. Sidath Kumar, during his visit to Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) informed the Pakistani businessmen that his country enjoyed European Union’s “GST plus” facility and in view of the said facility broad based business promotion through chamber‑ to‑chamber contacts will further strengthen the bilateral trade and business relations between the two countries, said a KCCI release here on Thursday.
President KCCI, Anjum Nisar along with other officials of KCCI welcomed the Lankan envoy.
Anjum Nisar said since inception of events of “My Karachi Exhibition” arranged by KCCI, Sri Lanka participates each year with a spirit of promotion of trade and investment between the two countries.
He said Sri Lanka and Pakistan have exceptional business relations and these should be further strengthened.

Minister of Social Services and Social Welfare,Douglas Devananda, has made arrangements to carry out a full scale survey on the Persons with Vision Impaired in the Western Province, a press release from the Ministry said.

The United National Party (UNP) today handed in a motion to the Secretary General of Parliament for the appointment of a Select Committee to look into and report on the failure of the Central Bank of Sri Lanak and the Monetary Board to supervise and regulate financial institutions and act against them.
The motion as handed in by UNP Kurunegela district MP Dayasiri Jayasekera and was signed by several others UNP MPs.

Sri Lanka Air Force MI-24 helicopter gunships have raided LTTE gathering place observed in Mullaittivu front this morning, 7 January.
Air Force spokesperson, Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara, speaking to defence.lk said that the air raid was launched at 11.30AM observed LTET gathering place in 4Km south of Mullaittivu.
The air attack was launched to assist the ground troops of 59 Division.
