PLOTE move to postpone Eastern polls rejected

The Appeal Court today rejected a request by PLOTE leader D. Siddharthan to postpone Eastern Provincial polls. The case was filed by PLOTE leader after his party’s nomination papers for Trincomalee district was rejected by the Elections Commissioner.

Former JVP activist Sampath Ketape-arachchi says two armed individuals of the JVP forcibly entered his home yesterday and harassed his wife before taking away several confidential documents.

He said confidential documents pertaining to JVP MPs Sunil Handunneththi and Wijitha Herath were taken away in this manner. Mr. Ketape-arachchi said he personally knows the two intruders and made a complaint to the Welikada police.
