Fonterra announces Rs. 1.2 b investment in local manufacturing and milk supply Wed, 14-05-2008 08:00:00 Fonterra Brands Lanka announced yesterday it is investing LKR1.2 billion to significantly expand its yoghurt manufacturing capacity and treble its supply of raw milk. Fonterra Brands Lanka Managing Director Achyut Reddy made the announcement during a Foundation Laying Ceremony at the company’s Biyagama site to mark the start of the project. Tamil businessman shot dead by LTTE gunmen- Jaffna Tue, 13-05-2008 07:00:00 Alleged LTTE gunmen shot and killed a Tamil businessman, owner of a communication center at Pothapady Road in Kokuvil East, Jaffna yesterday (May 12) evening. The victim identified as Mahendran Paramanathan, 36, was shot by alleged LTTE gunmen who stormed into his communication store at around 7.p.m. The gunmen were on motor bikes and have immediately fled the area, Jaffna Police said citing witnesses.
