A Lance Corporal was killed and two others were injured when they were defusing a stock of mines recovered in search operations in Kalady, Batticaloa today afternoon, police spokesman said. He said that among the items they were defusing were claymore mines, pressure mines and mortar ammunition. The Lance Corporal was identified as Lalith Kumara. An Army officer and a Police constable were injured and rushed to the Batticaloa hospital.
