Mission accomplished, JHU chief to leave politics
Written by CNS
Speaking to the media, the prelate said he would resign from the party positions as well as from his seat in parliament. Ven. Amarakiththi Thera said he would not get involved in any political activity in the future. The decision has been intimated in writing to party secretary Ven. Omalpe Sobhitha Thera, he said.

He said the JHU had been formed with the intention of helping eradicate terrorism, which has now been achieved. Two other monk MPs from the party - Ven Uduwe Dhammaloka and Ven. Kolonnawe Sumangala Theras - have also announced that they would leave politics.
